NSW REGIONAL COURTHOUSES

CLIENT: NSW DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITIES AND JUSTICE

LOCATION: REGIONAL NEW SOUTH WALES

YEAR: 2020

PROJECT VALUE: $9 MILLION

BGIS has provided integrated facilities management services to the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) since 2008. In April 2020, our Projects team was contracted to help deliver a $9 million fast-tracked NSW Government program of improvements aimed at supporting regional economies hit by drought, bushfire and COVID-19.

The capital works program was one of the largest ever undertaken for DCJ, comprising 62 courthouses – many of which are heritage listed – and including fire compliance, general maintenance and building fabric and function asset replacement. With a significantly reduced timeframe of six weeks for completion, we used data developed earlier by our Project Management Office to establish a high-level scope of required works and implemented a dedicated project program manager and administrator to help build, forecast and deliver on the program, which was intended to create jobs and support small and medium-sized businesses and local trades. The scope of works was successfully completed on time, and BGIS was pleased to engage several local businesses throughout the program.
